Nagano

Configurable evaluation modules for every institutional need.

A project, a form or an evaluation can trigger one or more evaluations, at the moment the project's context calls for them rather than at a single predetermined step. An evaluation can itself trigger others, with no single sequence and no fixed number.

Conceptual illustration of how evaluations are triggered. A project directly triggers a skills review, which triggers two more (clinical resources and another review), as well as a pharmacy review, followed by an imaging review and then a contract review. The project also goes through an initial submission form, which triggers a nursing resources review, followed by the final review, and a budget review, followed by another review. The statuses shown are examples.

Modules that adapt to your organization

Create the evaluations you need.

Nagano does not limit convenience reviews to a predefined list of evaluations. Your institution can configure different evaluation types based on its departments, its responsibilities and its internal processes.

Each type can have its own configuration and evolve independently of the others. Very different evaluations can live side by side in one environment, each keeping the way it works.

  • Configurable evaluation types

Create the evaluations that match the needs of your departments and your organization.

  • Distinct responsibilities

Define the managers, evaluators and decision-makers for each evaluation type.

  • Tailored grids and information

Use the forms and information that are relevant to each evaluation.

  • Rules for each evaluation

Configure deadlines, assignments, notifications and other behaviours based on the context.

At the right time, for the right project

Trigger evaluations based on context.

Nagano can trigger the right evaluation at the moment the project's context calls for it, rather than at a single predetermined step. An evaluation therefore does not have to be added to every project.

An evaluation can be triggered at different points in the journey, automatically or manually, including in the following situations.

Example

An answer stating that a budget is required can automatically trigger the Budget evaluation.

  • When a project is created

Some evaluations can start as soon as the file is opened.

  • At a specific step of the process

A change of step or status in the process can make an evaluation necessary.

  • By an office

An office can start an evaluation when the project calls for it.

  • When a form is submitted

Submitting a form can start the evaluations associated with it.

  • When a response is saved

A saved response can start one or more evaluations.

  • When an evaluation is submitted or completed

A submitted or completed evaluation can trigger one or more others.

  • Based on an answer or a decision

The content of an answer, or the decision made in an evaluation, can automatically trigger another evaluation.

  • Manually

An authorized person can add an evaluation when the context calls for it.

And other events, configured according to the process: this list is not exhaustive.

A complete process

From trigger to decision.

Each evaluation type can follow the process it needs, with the right tools at every step.

  1. Trigger

The evaluation becomes required according to the configured rules.

  2. Assignment

One or more people can take charge of the evaluation.

  3. Evaluation

The analysis can be documented with a configurable grid and the relevant information from the file.

  4. Decision

The decision is recorded, communicated and kept with the file.

More advanced processes when needed

An evaluation can itself become a configurable process.

For evaluations that need more than a simple assignment–evaluation–decision sequence, Nagano lets you define a process made of several intermediate steps.

Each step can represent a specific action in the process. Some can be mandatory, others optional, and some sequences can be grouped into cycles when they need to be repeated.

These advanced processes apply to project evaluations.

  • Custom steps

Break an evaluation down into steps that match your team's actual work.

  • Mandatory or optional

Some steps must be completed, others can be skipped.

  • Cycles

Group steps that need to be repeated several times.

  • Visible progress

Follow the current step and the progress of the process.

  • Suspension

Pause a process temporarily when the situation requires it.

  • History

Keep the dates, people in charge, comments and documents of every step.

Evaluations that can trigger others

Build complex, adaptive evaluation journeys.

A project, a form or an evaluation can reveal that a new analysis is needed. Nagano can then trigger the corresponding evaluation, according to the rules of the process.

An evaluation can itself trigger one or more other evaluations. Evaluations can thus trigger one another according to the rules of the process, making it possible to build complex, adaptive evaluation journeys.

A journey that adapts to each project.

  • Trigger the right evaluation when the project calls for it.
  • Let one evaluation trigger one or more others.
  • No single sequence and no fixed number of evaluations.
  • Avoid adding every evaluation to every project by default.

A shared view of the process

Everyone sees what they need to move the evaluation forward.

  • Managers

An overview of evaluations, assignments, deadlines and progress.

  • Evaluators

Access to the files assigned to them, the grids and the actions they need.

  • Decision-makers

Access to the information needed to make and document a decision.

  • Research teams

Visibility on the status of the evaluations linked to their projects.

With or without ethics

The same tools for different research realities.

Configurable evaluation modules do not depend on an ethics review process. They can be used for different types of research and projects, and in multicentre configurations.

  • With ethics review

Research involving human participants or animals.

  • Without ethics review

Fundamental research, innovation and other institutional projects.

  • Every project

Different types of projects, in a single institution or across several sites.
